Older work
A lot of my work looks outdated to me so I don't keep it in my portfolio. However, there are some things I still like, for one reason or another.
Catalysta (2010)
Let's start off with something dead sexy. I am the Information Architect for a large, complex site aimed at people who want to do social good in their existing or new careers, built on Drupal. I took the project from a wee seed and grew it into its current robust glory, which included much client education and bushwhacking along the way. To be released in the fall. Look! I can do diagrams!

Watchguard Technologies (2002)
Creative Director for packaging, brochures, trade show booths, and a website. I like the grids, and the big color fields mixed with minimalist photos. The network diagrams were also fun to do as we got to spend a lot of time with the engineers, proving designers weren't all a pack of ditzes.

Playing Cards For Small Hands (unpublished)
What’s the problem with playing cards? A two of hearts actually has four hearts, including the index hearts. These cards have the correct number of pips, and have the added bonus of narrower bottom edges to form a more compact hand.

Sapphire Energy (Edelman Digital; 2008)
Art Director for a VERY small website. The logo SUCKS. I am not responsible for that nasty logo. Do I like this site, really? Or do I just really like algae-into-crude oil? Or am I including it because there really aren't any websites in my portfolio because the ones I designed all look really dated?

Sony Music (1995)
Freelance Art Director for Sony Music, New York City. I designed CD and video packaging for a variety of Sony artists. I also got to spend a lot of time in the very stellar Sony Music photo archives. And George Avakian very carefully made notes on my layouts and Scotch-taped in photos appropriate to the recording sessions in question. Then faxed them to me at my house! George Avakian!

react magazine (1994)
Creative Director for a 4.2 million circulation teen magazine. Remeber when we used to mess with type? I still like the way we broke the grid and generally hacked about.

iVillage (1996)
e-postcards. They were just kind of fun to do.

Dr Pepper (Young & Rubicam; 1998)
These are WAY past the expiration date but they still crack me up. They were page headers for the Dr Pepper Rec Room, a Flash-based college football promotion. I did these as animated GIFs, with one of those crappy free programs.
